Kamatis” means tomato. “Kamatisis a popular ingredient in many Filipino dishes such as menudo, mechado, afritada, etc. It’s also typical used in simple salads, dressed with soy sauce or “patis” (fish sauce), as a condiment to other dishes such as fried fresh fish, dried fish, crispy “pata” (pig’s leg/knuckles) and many others.  Combination of salted egg and “kamatis” is good and a personal favorite.
