(Atlanta) –  The dining scene in Atlanta is getting hotter and bolder by the minute because of newer, trendy and ingenious restaurants popping up all over the city. And they are getting noticed nationwide through Food Network and Travel Channel.  One of these blazing talk-of-the-town Atlanta restaurants is Two Urban Licks.

I did my research a few weeks before my trip and this restaurant landed in the top of my list of food places that I should not miss before leaving Atlanta. My week while in the city was swamped with project work but I don’t see any difficulty in sneaking out of work and have a quick dinner at Two.

So I headed to Two with my friend the night before my flight back to Chicago. The place, which looks like a huge refurbished warehouse, is ultra modern and stunningly grand. The voluminous rectangular chandelier hovering over the main bar holds the fruity sangria and some house-made infusions. I haven’t seen anything like that before. Really impressive!

Two Sangria – wine, rum, triple sec, brandy, orange juice, pineapple, cherries, ginger ale

And the food is very delicious and inventive. The duck is perfectly seared and the calamari with all the sauces is addictive. Although the lamb portion of the lollipop is Lilliputian, it is distinctly tasty because of the jam-cream combination. What could be smokier than their Jerk chicken?! It’s smoky, spicy good.

Lamb Lollipops with blackberry jam, chevre cream

Shaved Calamari with sweet & spicy, cilantro, wasabi cream

Duck – seared, Italian sausage stuffed, Anaheim peppers, tomato, shaved Brussels sprouts, local okra, fig jus

Jerk Chicken – smoked with NY cheddar mac and cheese
