(San Diego) –  You bet; where there is a Jollibee in the city I am visiting here in the US, I will definitely spend a meal or two there. I have never missed the flavors of our beloved originally Pinoy fast food this intense – well after failing to visit Manila for almost 4 years now. Be it in New York, Los Angeles or Las Vegas, I will reserve a few hours of my vacation to pay homage to the big Bee and even take out something for my midnight snack back to the hotel.

During my recent trip to San Diego, there am I again posing with the Bee mascot for a picture. Sound stupid but I don’t care. It’s fun! I am like a big kid in a candy store. I ordered food enough to feed 3 people and worry about the calories later. Gosh! The taste is exactly the same as I remember it. I am home. 🙂

The ever crunchy and juicy Chicken Joy.  I am beginning to think that this is the standard Filipino fried chicken.

Lumpiang Shanghai (spring rolls) and the ever sweet Filipino-style Spaghetti

My favorite,  Peach Mango Pie.  I didn’t know that there exists a Banana Langka Pie. It’s also good.

I am surprised that there is Sotanghon – really oily but super tasty. Eat this quickly while it is hot.

There are hundreds of thousands of Filipinos here in Chicago; how come there is no Jollibee here?! If I were just rich enough to procure a franchise, I would definitely bring the Bee here and be accorded a hero for doing so. But then again, reality tells me that all I can afford for now is a fiesta meal of chicken joy, peach mango pie and palabok.

Calling out the affluent and enterprising Pinoys in Chicago, consider bringing the lucrative Jollibee here in the Midwest. There is a big throng of Filipinos here to back you up.
