(Atlanta) –  I thought I can only find a good tasting Pho in Asian neighborhoods such as Vietnamese rows like Buford in Atlanta, Argyle in Chicago or Chinatown. I was wrong.  Right in downtown Atlanta; a block away from my office; beside the fast food chains and counter service sandwich eateries; there is Dua serving hot—literally and figuratively— Vietamese food to stressed up GSU students and hardworking downtown employees.

The place looks tiny when you enter the door. But lo and behold, Dua has an artsy basement with exposed red brick and brimming with cool vibe. It felt like I were eating in a revolutionary underground restaurant in Brooklyn. I love it!

The food is delicious and bursting with flavors. Any Asian, in general, would feel comfortable eating here. The dishes are not “Westernized” or “fancy-fied” which usually ruins the true identity of the food.  But they stick to the real Vietnamese flavor—the way it should be.

Bun Bo Hue –  spicy vermicelli noodle soup, served with vegetables, beef and pork

House Pho eyeround steak, meatballs, beef shanks

Bo Luc Lac pan–seared steak cubes served over salad with rice and sliced cucumbers and tomatoes and a side of soy sauce

Chicken Salad spring mix greens, cucumber, tomatoes, carrots topped with red onions and crushed peanuts served with a homemade vinegearette sauce

The next time I fly to Atlanta, I will definitely be seen here again.
