    October 20 marks a powerful milestone in my life, one year of living with my LVAD (Left Ventricular Assist Device), the strap and device that now keeps my heart beating as I wait for a transplant. When I reflect on this journey, I don’t speak as a medical professional, but as a patient who’s had to learn how to live with both the physical and emotional challenges that come with heart failure.
