(Chicago) – I grew up eating seafood in the Philippines and it’s dear to my heart (and stomach).   A short drive to Dampa (a complex of small restaurants beside a fresh market where you can buy anything you want from seafood to meat, then pick a restaurant, give them your procured fresh food, describe how you like them cooked and they will execute) is always memorable. If you have time and money, every province offers an array of seafood dishes from Ilocos to Palawan to Davao.

Anyway, reality is, I’m in Chicago and seafood is not that cheap.  The variety is very limited too and most of the time they are not fresh. Ordering seafood is not a usual thing for me here; not until a friend asked me to visit a seafood mecca nearby called Glenn’s Dinner.

Love the place! They serve the freshest seafood dishes in the city and they cooked the delicate ocean bounty to perfection. Well, it’s not hard to tell if your shrimp or mussels are overcooked. The consistently long wait during rush hour dining is just an indication that there’s something great with this place.

I went there for a late lunch and I enjoyed the food. I can’t wait to go back for dinner to taste their other offerings; perhaps many more dinners to come.
