(New York) –  Peter Luger has been feeding New Yorkers, and people from all over the world actually, with the finest steaks even before Philippines achieved its independence in 1898. Yes, it’s older than anyone of us. But the dry aged steak here will never be outdated.

I re-visited Luger during my last New York trip a few weeks ago. I am expecting a better appreciation of its steak this time, now that I am armed with ampler information from incessant researching, reading and inquiring about food for this blog site. As expected, the steak is tender, succulent and flavorful.  It’s juicy and not bloody; it tastes beefy and not mineraly or irony.

The four of us who went to Luger for lunch got so enticed with the day’s special, chopped steak.   We all ordered this and totally forgot that Luger’s dry aged steak is the best thing here.  So I called on the waiter and asked for a single slice of rib steak to go.  I know it’s absurd and my friends did a good job in telling me frankly how wasteful and gluttonous I am becoming. Both accusations are untrue and easy to rebut. Besides, how could I dare waste such a wonderful piece of meat?  No way!

It’s neither mystery nor rocket science why Peter Luger is loved by many generations including the current. Simply visit the restaurant and grab one of its steak and the taste will reveal the answer personally to you. Cheers to great steak for the next hundreds of years for Luger!
